| Members of two quilt guilds in Orange County, CA introduced me to this warehouse-style fabric store. Many of the fabric style are a little older and one does need to be careful when buying. BUT, there are enough bargains of name-brand, and high quality,fabrics to keep me going back whenever I'm close. CAUTION: don't take husbands, children or non-fabriholics with you. Do take swatches of fabrics you need to complete projects and a list of yardages and a friend to help you lift the flat-fold bundles...oh, yes...wear very comfortable shoes and clothing for the 'hunt'! |
| I have more news and a foundation techique pattern to share in just a bit...for now why don't you take a look at the March, 2007 applique pattern... FOUNDATION PAPER PIECING: I've been introduced several times to foundation piecing. To be completely truthful It's not my 'thing' -- but, I do use the technique on occation. My friends Jane Hall and Dixie Haywood have been fostering my interest for years. They are really good at it and I'm not. That being said I also admit to using the techniques. In other words I'm willing to adapt...when I need really accurate piecing and I have a lot of time to pick the paper pieces out of the work. I am more inclined to work on paper since discovering Wash Away TM -- a foundation paper marketed by Collins/Dritz. I can run the 8 1/2" X 11" paper through my computer printer. It dissolves in water in 10 seconds. Jane edited a wonderful book last year which includes foundation techniques from many of the top foundation piecing designers. I'll get the information for you and include it here soon. In the meantime you might want to try your hand with my "Mixed Ts" fountation block. Later... |
